Registered Dietitian The Registered Dietitian instructs the entire group of children and adults in the nutrition education component of the KiieShape® program. The RD leads topics for nutrition education as outlined for each week in the KidShape® curriculum. Specific duties include: assisting Site Coordinator with program orientation and taking heights and weights, teaching family nutrition activity as outlines in manual, leading in-depth nutrition discussion with parents, analyzing weekly food journals and providing feedback, completing Nutritional Assessments, and acting as a role model for the participants. The Dietitian may be asked to assist the Site Coordinator as needed with any other aspect of the class. Mental Health Professional Usually a Marriage and Family Therapist or Social Worker, the Mental Health Professional leads adult discussion groups, which focus on behavior modification. Specific duties include: following outlined topics for discussion, facilitates and promotes the comfort of all participants to freely share their experiences and concerns, provides constructive ideas for facilitating healthy living behaviors, and makes referrals for further counseling as needed. The MHP may be asked to assist the Site Coordinator as needed with any other aspect of the class. Physical Activity Instructor (KidShape® only) An energetic staff member who is a trained aerobic instructor or certified physical activity instructor. Specific duties include: 5 minute warm-up, leading thirty minutes of active physical activity, and 5 minute cool down. Physical Activity Instructors also act as positive role models for the participants, motivate and encourage everyone to participate, and creatively teach lifelong skills for incorporating physical activity into daily living. The Physical Activity Instructor may be asked to assist the Site Coordinator as needed with any other aspect of the class Activity Instructor (KinderShape® only) An energetic staff member who enjoys doing arts and crafts with children and ideally has a background in physical activity. Specific duties include: teaching new physical activity skills and getting students to move actively through creative play, assisting Dietitian with cooking demonstrations, leading arts and crafts project each week, leading students and adults in physical activity, and ensuring needed supplies are available for each class. Activity Instructors also act as positive role models for the participants, motivate and encourage everyone to participate, and creatively teach lifelong skills for incorporating physical activity into daily living. The Activity Instructor may be asked to assist the Site Coordinator as needed with any other aspect of the class. Site Coordinator Assistant Typically, this position can be filled a student or adult who is interested in learning more about the program. Specific duties include: assisting the Site Coordinator with all on-site duties and assisting all staff members, as necessary. Volunteer Multiple positions exist for volunteers with KidShape®. We can train a volunteer to assist our Site Coordinators at different sites or help with special projects in the central office. Please contact us if you are interested. |
